Six Flags Magic Mountain

Six Flags Magic Mountain California

Waiting in line sucks! But at Six Flags Magic Mountain that's exactly what you are going to do, especially if you go on a weekend. Are the rides worth it? Yeah, but you better get in line to your favorite rides first. After the parking line, the food lines, the bathroom lines and yes, even a line to get a bottled water, its going to be closing time before you know it.

Picking a good day is key! Try to avoid weekends, holidays, school breaks and special events to avoid waiting an hour or more in line for most rides.

How to avoid lines? It'll cost you! Magic Mountain offers a Flash Pass. More about this pass below in the admission section of this page.

Hours

Out of all the major Theme Parks in California, this one seems to be the one to keep odd hours. I could never understand that. I highly recommend checking the "park hours" page on the Official Magic Mountain Website.

Parking

One day parking is $20.00 (ouch!) Valet parking is $35.00 (double ouch!)

Admission

General admission to Six Flags Magic Mountain, meaning if you go straight to the gate, is $67.99 for an adult and $42.99 for children 48 inches and under. Children two and under are free.

You can get a one day general admission ticket online at the official website for $47.99  Saves you $20.00.

3 day advance purchase online ticket is $44.99. Buy tickets online at least three days in advance and save $23.00.

5 day advance purchase online ticket is $42.99. Buy tickets online at least five days in advance and save $25.00.

These tickets expires so be sure to check out the expiration date when purchasing. Not only do you save money by purchasing tickets in advance, but you also get to skip the ticket line when you get to the park.

A Season Pass is $72.99. It gives you unlimited visits, some in-park discounts and free tickets for friends on select days. For five dollars more this might be a good option if you live nearby and want to stop by for an afternoon to ride you favorite ride. Magic Mountain offers a number of different passes, including combo passes which include Hurricane Harbor Water Park. Check the official website (link above).

The Flash Pass is a reservation system. You select your attraction, get your time to ride, and receive an alert when it's your turn to ride. You then arrive at the flash Pass Entrance at your time to ride or anytime after and go straight to the attraction. There are three different speeds to choose from.

The Flash Pass Regular starts at $40.00. With this pass, your reservation time will be equal to the current wait time but you don't have to physically stand in line.

The Flash Pass Gold starts at $65.00. Your reservation will reduce wait time by up to 50%. You'll also be able to reserve a seat on X2.

The Flash Pass Platinum starts at $95.00. Reduces your reservation time by 90% plus on selected rides you can ride twice in a row without leaving your seat.

Pros: Ride more rides in one single day. Cons: Expensive and you just made everyone else without a Flash Pass have to wait even longer.
