Steinhart Aquarium
at the California Academy of Sciences

The living collection at Steinhart Aquarium is home to 38,000 live animals from around the world, representing more than 900 separate species. Here's what you'll see and experience....

Northern California Coast Gallery is 100,000 gallon tank that replicates the habitats of the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary.

Rainforest of the World Gallery has exotic Reptiles, free-flying birds, butterflies, amphibians and a cave with bats.

Tusher African Hall - a monitor lizard, cichlids, chameleons and the most famous residents here are a colony of 20 African penguins.

Philippine Coral Reef Gallery holds 212,000 gallons of water and has a depth of 25 feet, it's one of the deepest exhibits of live coral in the world.

The Swamp Gallery has an albino American alligator named Claude (haha! I think that's so funny) and several alligator snapping turtles. You can view them from the surface or an underwater window.

The Water Planet Gallery is dozens of tanks from 5 to 5,000 gallons in size. They contain a variet of amphibians, fish, insects, reptiles and other invertebrates.

Animal Attraction explores some of the wildest courtship and mating strategies in the animal kingdom. 18 beautiful tanks explore the reproductive process.
